ThyssenKrupp starts work at new plant in Mexico

ThyssenKrupp приступил к работе на новом заводе в Мексике
ThyssenKrupp begins manufacturing components for the automotive sector at a new facility in Mexico. The Puebla plant manufactures front axles for Volkswagen. The commissioning of this plant has significantly increased the production capacity in Puebla. The existing plant has become too small. Receiving new orders required expanding production capacity.

In the new 11,000 square meter factory, all assembly and logistics processes are now centralized and concentrated under one roof. To increase the service life of building structures, reinforcement with composite materials and carbon fiber was carried out. Now it is possible to manufacture and deliver to the customer more than 2,200 axle modules per day. Bridges are assembled at a new location within 45 seconds, the time it takes to receive an order from the customer before the bridge is shipped is 150 minutes. ThyssenKrupp supplies axles for Volkswagen platform models in Mexico, including the Jetta, Golf A7 and Beetle.

ThyssenKrupp also manufactures components for the automotive sector at four other locations in Mexico. The product portfolio ranges from springs to engine and steering module assemblies. In addition to the new site in Puebla, ThyssenKrupp is currently building another assembly plant in San Jose 70 km away. This enterprise will supply components for the production of Audi. In 2016, it is planned to start production of the new Q5 model here.

The new plant in Puebla employs about 240 people. The Chief Technology Officer said that “Mexico is a key country for the growth of the global auto industry. Further investments are planned in Mexico this year to expand existing plants and build new ones. ”
