According to the US Copper and Brass Manufacturers Council, imports of rolled brass during 2014 were 526,287 thousand pounds, up 7 percent from cumulative imports of 491,868 thousand pounds in 2013. In December last year, imports totaled 39.110 thousand pounds, which is slightly lower (0.67 percent) compared to 39.375 thousand pounds of imports recorded during December 2013. (1 lb = 0.453 kg)
Germany was the main exporter of rolled brass to the United States during 2014. Total imports from South Korea are followed by Germany. Mexico is in third place. Imports of all sheets, strips, plates and film products in December 2014 amounted to 12,469 thousand pounds. Imports of pipes of all kinds amounted to 11.42 million pounds, imports of all profiles, bars and fittings amounted to 11.61 million pounds, imports of wire amounted to 3611 thousand pounds.
Exports of rolled brass from the United States in December totaled 18.709 thousand pounds in December, down 2.9 percent from 19.27 million pounds in December the previous year, according to published data. Throughout 2014, exports amounted to 253,374 thousand pounds, which is also 2.9 percent lower in relation to exports of 260,955 thousand pounds during 2013.
Exports of all sheets, strips, plates and film products totaled £ 8.55 million in December 2014. Exports of tubular products totaled 3,060,000 pounds, exports of all profiles, bars and fittings totaled 5,167,000 feet, and exports of copper wire totaled 1,933,000 pounds.
