ArcelorMittal wants to boost investment in Krakow

ArcelorMittal хочет повысить инвестиции в Кракове
The world's largest steel producer ArcelorMittal is developing an ambitious modernization plan in Poland. The company, headquartered in Luxembourg, has already invested about PLN 5 billion in the country's metallurgy.

Polish Prime Minister Kopacz is currently implementing the government's plan to strengthen and promote the development of the country's industry. In April this year, the government is to make a decision on the further investment of ArcelorMittal in the country.

ArcelorMittal Poland plans to expand its rolling mill in Krakow, and possibly build an additional galvanizing line, as well as a service center equipped with pipe and plate bending machines and other metalworking equipment. The rolling mill was built several years ago. Investments during that period amounted to 1.2 billion zlotys. The estimated cost of the expansion is estimated at PLN 150-200 million. In addition to this, the company is also planning to renovate the blast furnace at the Krakow plant.

ArcelorMittal Poland is considered the largest steel producer in the country. The hot rolling mill in Krakow is by far the largest investment project in the European steel sector over the past decade.

Around 4,800 employees work in the plant, making it one of the most important steel plants in Europe. Moreover, the production meets all environmental standards of the European Union and is distinguished by relatively moderate noise and energy-saving technologies. Despite its huge size, the facility has enough free space for growth, and with its infrastructure it is able to support a significant increase in throughput. In addition, the city of Krakow is a well-known center of education and professional training for the metallurgical industry.
