The latest figures released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) show that the export of rebar products from the country increased slightly at the end of last year, trying to catch up.
According to industry sources, Turkey's rebar exports to the United States improved significantly by the end of 2014. Imports from Turkey to the United States declined following the US Department of Commerce (US DOC) decision to impose anti-dumping duties on imports of rebar from Turkey and Mexico in early 2014.
According to TUIK statistics, the export of fittings increased slightly over the year. The increase was 1.16 percent compared to Turkish rebar exports in the previous year. The export of rebar in December 2014 amounted to 754 299 tons.
The largest export destination for Turkish fittings was the United States. US imports totaled 165,846 tons, up 43.88 percent from 115,267 tons in the previous year. The UAE was the second largest importer of Turkish rebar with 150,634 tonnes. Exports of rebar to the UAE rose more than 233 percent year on year.
Rebar exports generated $ 377 million in total revenue last December, down 13 percent from export revenues in the same month a year earlier, when rebar exports generated $ 433 million. According to the Turkish Statistical Office, export prices for rebar decreased slightly during the month.
