European stainless steel makers cut surcharges for April

Major stainless steel producers in Europe have announced reductions in the stainless steel surcharge during April 2015. Major manufacturers such as Aperam, Outokumpu and Acciai Speciali Terni are among those who have announced reductions in surcharges. Other stainless steel makers, including Acerinox and ThyssenKrupp, should soon follow suit.

Outokumpu reportedly lowered its 304 stainless alloy surcharge in April by € 4 per tonne compared to the previous month. After adjustment, the surcharge will average € 1,320 per tonne, and during March the surcharge for this product was € 1,324 per tonne. In addition, surcharges for grade 316 alloys will be reduced by $ 26 per tonne to € 1,897 per tonne from € 1,923 per tonne. However, the surcharge for alloys 430 marks will be increased by 8 euros per tonne to 466 euros per tonne.

Aperam announced a cut-off cut in surcharges for 304 flat products in April this year. The surcharge will be reduced from € 1283 per tonne by € 6 to just € 1277 per tonne in April. In addition, the company decided to cut the markup on its 316 grade flat alloy by € 9 /t from € 1,844 in March to € 1,835 /ton. The surcharge for 430 marks will be increased by 6 euros per tonne to 447 euros per tonne.

Acciai Speciali Terni announced a reduction in surcharges for alloy 304 grade flat products by € 2 per tonne for April to € 1,320 per tonne. At the same time, surcharges for flat products of 316 marks will be reduced from EUR 17 per tonne by EUR 17 per ton to EUR 1903 per ton in April 2015.
