Mechel signed an agreement with Sinara Transport machines

Mechel OAO, one of the leading Russian mining and metallurgical companies, announces the signing of a contract between Mechel-Trans Vostok and Sinara Transport Machines (STM) for servicing locomotives for four years.

In accordance with the agreement, STM-Service will carry out full maintenance and repair of TE8 locomotives, which are manufactured at the Lyudinovo plant, which is a member of STM, by order of Mechel. The Mechel-Vostok locomotive fleet includes 15 TE8 locomotives and 3 shunting diesel locomotives TEM18 DM. They have been manufactured to specifications for harsh climates and mountainous areas.

Repairs and all services will be performed at the Mechel depot at the Verkhniy Ulak station on the Ulak-Elga railroad, which connects the Elginskoye field with the Baikal-Amur mainline. In addition, starting in the second half of 2015, STM-Service will ensure the readiness of Mechel-Trans Vostoka locomotives for use on general railways. According to the agreement, maintenance will cost 120 million rubles per year.

This new contract for STM-Service is another step in mutually beneficial long-term cooperation. Private label has undertaken to create a specialized service center, train personnel, create a warehouse of spare parts and consumables that will increase the efficiency of work in this remote area, as noted by the chief executive officer of private label Evgeny Gritsenko.
