Brazil Increases Flat Products Exports By 19 Percent In April

According to data released by Brazil's Ministry of Development and Trade, the country's flat steel products exports flourished during April this year. On the other hand, the export of semi-finished products in April 2015 decreased significantly.

Brazil exported 131,300 tons of flat steel during April this year, up 19 percent from 110,400 tons in April last year. In addition, export revenues rose 11.55 percent year on year to $ 92.7 million for the month, up from $ 83.1 million recorded in the same month a year earlier.

However, the export of flat steel products in April 2015 decreased by 58 percent compared to the previous month, when the total supply was 312,400 tons. Export earnings in April fell 53.1 percent from $ 197.7 million in March this year.

Meanwhile, exports of steel semi-finished products from the country fell by almost 4 percent from 424,300 tons in April 2014 to 407,800 tons in April this year. Total sales recorded a 27.5 percent year-on-year decline to $ 161.1 million. Compared to the previous month, exports of steel semi-finished products decreased by 29.1 percent. Exports of semi-finished products amounted to 575,600 tons in March this year. Sales in monetary terms decreased by 34.4 percent compared to March 2015.
