According to the latest figures released by the Japanese Ministry of Finance (MOF), stainless steel exports from the country rose significantly in March this year, compared with exports in the previous month.
Exports of stainless steel products to Japan during March 2015 amounted to 111,096 tons, showing an increase of 24.7 percent over the previous month. The country's stainless steel exports totaled 89,091 tons during February 2015.
China was the largest export destination for Japanese stainless steel. Exports to China reached 24,043 tons, accounting for more than one-fifth of Japan's total stainless steel exports for the month. Exports from Japan to China increased sharply by 41.3 percent compared to exports in February 2015.
In second place was South Korea with a total import volume of 21,199 tons. Stainless steel exports to South Korea jumped 11.4 percent from the previous month of 2015. Taiwan was the third largest export of stainless steel. Imports of Japanese stainless steel to the country totaled 13,064 tons, an increase of 20.7 percent from the previous month.
The average export price for stainless steel supplied by the country during March 2015 to the international market was $ 3.423 per tonne. At the same time, the price of stainless steel fell sharply by 6.7 percent compared to the previous month. During the month, the export of stainless products generated a total income of $ 380,230,000.
