Imports and exports of rolled brass declined in the USA

According to the latest statistics, imports and exports of rolled brass to the United States fell in the 1st quarter and March of this year. Imports of rolled brass were 48.1 million pounds in March this year, down 5.2 percent from imports recorded in March 2014.

Germany was the main exporter of rolled brass to the United States. In total, US imports from Germany totaled 10.9 million pounds during the month. South Korea follows Germany with total US exports of 7.7 million pounds. Mexico is in third place. from 5.1 million pounds. Imports of sheets, strips, plates and foil totaled £ 15.7 million in March. Pipe imports totaled £ 16.1 million; imports of all profiles, bars and rebar totaled 11.8 million pounds, wire - 4.4 million pounds.

Cumulative imports of rolled brass in the first three months of the year were £ 122.3 million, down 5 percent compared to imports of £ 128.6 million during January-March 2014.

Exports of rolled brass from the United States totaled 22.7 million pounds in March 2015, down 1.7 percent from exports of 23.1 million pounds in the same month last year. Exports to Mexico amounted to almost 8.9 million pounds, to Canada 5.6 million pounds. Other top export destinations were Saudi Arabia (£ 1.0m), China (£ 892,451) and Hong Kong (£ 782,675).

March exports of all sheets, strips, plates and foil totaled £ 8.9 million; tubular products - 4.8 million pounds; all profiles, bars and fittings - 6.8 million lbs; copper wire - 2.1 million pounds. Consolidated rolled brass exports for Q1 were £ 63.8 million, up 1 percent YoY.
