The new complex of metal coatings will be built at the site of the Cherepovets Metallurgical Plant, the largest integrated steel plant in the Severstal division. The Belgian company CMI Industry was selected as a supplier of technological equipment.
The complex consists of a continuous hot-dip galvanizing unit with an annual production capacity of 400 thousand tons, as well as an aggregate for applying polymer coatings of metal, the production capacity of which is 200 thousand tons. The supply of rolled stock for the polymer coating unit will be carried out from the new continuous hot-dip galvanizing unit.
CMI Industry, one of the world leaders in the development of advanced technologies and projects for the metallurgical sector, will supply, install and commission the main technological equipment in order to reach the design capacity of new units. The project is estimated at over 6 billion rubles.
According to the general director of the division, Sergei Toropov, the project will be completed in a short time, since the selected site for the new complex has all the necessary infrastructure and utilities. The entire volume of construction and installation work for the construction of the facility will be performed by the Domnaremont Center and Cherepovets Koksokhimmontazh-2.
The project is considered a priority according to the economic and strategic program of the Severstal division. The implementation of the project will expand the production of products that replace imports and will significantly increase the supply of coated rolled products to the Russian market, where there is still an imbalance in supply and demand for these products. The new equipment will continue to develop branded products such as Steel Velvet and Steel Silk.
