In the first four months of 2015, Russia exported 927 tonnes of stainless steel, which represents a 67 percent drop in export shipments year on year, according to the Special Steels Association. Russian exports of stainless products also decreased during 2014 by 31.2 percent to 8647 tons, compared to the previous year.
At the same time, exports of stainless steel long products decreased by 89.3 percent to 175 tons, and stainless flat products - by 2.9 percent to 363 tons. In addition, the data also showed that Russian exports of seamless stainless steel pipes totaled 130 tonnes, down 73.6 percent year on year. However, the export of electrowelded stainless steel pipes rose 3.73 times to 71 tons. Export supplies of stainless steel wire increased 14.87 times to 127 tons.
The decline in Russian exports of stainless steel is due to the fact that Ukraine reduced imports of these products, and in 2014 its share accounted for 57 percent of the total export supplies.
