The total volume of crude steel production in the countries of the South American region in April this year decreased slightly, by 0.1 percent, to 3.786 million tons. African countries produced 1.212 million tonnes of steel, down 13.2 percent from 1.396 million tonnes achieved in April 2014.

Crude steel production in the Middle East in April this year was 2.272 million tons, down 7.7 percent, which is significantly lower than the output of 2.461 million tons in April 2014. Steel output in Asian countries during April 2015 decreased by 1.2 percent to 92.547 million tons, compared to 93.642 million tons in the advisory month of last year. Oceania's total crude steel production rose sharply in April this year to 0.488 million tonnes, up 18.2 percent from 0.413 million tonnes in April 2014.
