Nazarbayev and Mittal discussed the role of ArcelorMittal in the economy of Kazakhstan

The company's participation in the development of the country's economy and the prospects for its activities, taking into account the current state programs of Kazakhstan, were discussed during a meeting between President Nursultan Nazarbayev and the General Director of Arcelor Mittal Lakshmi Mittala.

The work of the Arcelor Mittal metallurgical plant in Temirtau was approved and the need for its sustainable operation in the global economy was emphasized. Arcelor Mittal Steel Temirtau OJSC is a large mining and metallurgical company in Kazakhstan. The production capacity of the metallurgical plant in Temirtau is 4 million tons of steel per year. The company also operates eight coal mines in the Karaganda region and four iron ore enterprises in central and northern Kazakhstan.
