US exports rose slightly and imports of rolled brass fell in April this year, according to the latest statistics released by the Council of Copper and Brass Producers. Rolled brass imports in April 2015 were £ 47.8 million, down 1.5 percent from £ 48.6 million in April 2014. Exports of rolled brass were £ 22.97 million in April 2015, up 1 percent from £ 22.80 million in the same month last year.
Germany was the main exporter of rolled brass to the United States. US imports from Germany totaled 9.29 million pounds during the month. South Korea follows Germany with total US exports of £ 9.19 million. In third place was Mexico with 6.01 million pounds of supplies to the United States.
Imports of all sheets, strips, plates and foil totaled £ 13.31 million in April. All pipes and tubular products were £ 18.0 million. Imports of all profiles, bars and fittings were 12.23 million pounds and copper wire imports were 4.29 million pounds. Aggregate rolled brass imports for the first four months of the year were £ 170.16 million, down 4 percent from £ 17.72 million in January-April last year.
According to the data, the leading destination for the export of rolled brass from the United States in April this year was Mexico. Exports to Mexico totaled nearly 8.18 million pounds, followed by Canada at 6.38 million pounds. Other top export destinations were China (£ 1.58m), Saudi Arabia (£ 0.9m) and Thailand (£ 0.67m).
Exports of all sheets, strips, plates and foil totaled £ 8.48 million in April 2015. Exports of pipes amounted to 4.52 million pounds, profiles, bars and fittings - 6.97 million pounds, copper wire - 3.0 million pounds. Exports of rolled brass in the first four months of the year totaled £ 86.78 million, up 1 percent compared to £ 85.98 million during January-April 2014.
