PAO Severstal, an integrated mining and steel company, continues to re-equip its cold-rolled products at the Cherepovets Steel Works (CherMK). To this end, Severstal entered into a contract with the German company Maschinenfabrik Herkules GmbH for the supply of a work roll surface texturing machine for a sheet rolling stand.
The acquisition and installation of new technological equipment is taking place within the framework of an investment project for the reconstruction of a cold rolling mill in order to obtain a wider range of micro-geometry of rolls. Maschinenfabrik Herkules GmbH will supply a work roll surface texturing machine for about 2 million euros, and in general, about 2.5 billion rubles will be spent on the reconstruction of the rolling mill.
Denis Uymanov, Director of Planning and Procurement, Severstal Russian Steel Division, said market demand and high customer requirements contributed to the decision to retool the cold rolling mill. Maschinenfabrik Herkules GmbH guarantees that when fully loaded the design annual capacity of the mill will reach 1.3 million tons per year, which is 200 thousand tons more than the production capacity before the mill reconstruction.
As previously reported, the refurbishment of the cold rolling mill (4-stand) began last year. Technical re-equipment involves the complete dismantling of equipment to the foundation and installation, commissioning and commissioning of a new mill. The delivery of the work roll texturizer is part of the mill retooling program, which will be launched in 2016, and the roll texturizer will be delivered and operational by that time. At the same time, SMS Siemag AG will supply the main technological equipment of the new continuous cold rolling mill (4-stand) and carry out commissioning.
