Odessa port increased cargo turnover in the first half of 2015

In the period from January to June of this year, the Odessa port handled 12, 374 million tons of cargo, which is 3.5 percent higher compared to 11, 950 million tons in the first half of 2014.

The port's capacities allow the processing of more than 9 million tons of steel products per year. To increase the intensity of loading and unloading operations, a special technique and advanced technologies for handling ships are used.

Dry cargo handling in the port of Odessa in the first half of 2015 reached 4.434 million tons, an increase of 10.7 percent compared to 4.389 million tons in 2014. Grain handling increased by 31.7 percent and amounted to 3.538 million tons. Construction cargo handling increased 24 times to 145 thousand tons. Transshipment of ore this year decreased by 66.8 percent to 380 thousand tons. Bulk cargoes handled in the port of Odessa include iron ore concentrate, ore, pellets and pig iron. To move bulk cargoes into containers, including cast iron and ferroalloys, special handling equipment has been developed. Container traffic during January-June reached 2.529 million tons, having decreased by 16.5 percent in weight terms, which is 119.274 thousand units. in piece.

In the first half of 2015, 2.219 million tons of liquid cargo were handled, which is 15.6 percent less in annual comparison. Most of them are oil products, the processing of which decreased by 15.6 percent to 1.694 million tons, while the processing of chemical cargo increased by 14.5 percent to 499 thousand tons.
