Anatoly Volkov, Deputy General Director of OJSC BMZ - the managing company of the BMK holding, said: “Our metallurgical plant is export-oriented. In the first half of 2015, we produced 1.5 million tons of steel, which is 13.7 percent more than in the first six months of 2014. And we exported about 90 percent of our production. "
The main part of BMZ's metal products export was sent to Europe, and practically accounted for more than half of the total volume. Exports to the CIS countries, primarily to Russia, amounted to 15.5 percent. After the CIS, in terms of export volume, are the countries of North Africa, which accounted for 15 percent, followed by the countries of the Middle East and Asia, then the United States. BMZ sells 10 percent of steel products on the domestic market. The ten largest importers of BMZ metal products include: Russia, Egypt, Germany, Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, USA, Turkey, Italy and Tunisia.
Anatoly Volkov said that in the first half of 2015, the export of products of the Belarusian Metallurgical Plant also increased in kind. The export growth rate was 118 percent over the same period last year. In monetary terms, BMZ's steel products exports reached $ 538.2 million.
He said: “We are in positive territory, although profitability is slightly lower compared to last year and now stands at 2.5 percent. We expect total exports of metal products for the whole of 2015 to be in line with the first half of the year. We do not expect a sharp decline in exports. "
