According to the latest data released by Brazil's Ministry of Industry Development and Foreign Trade (MDIC), iron ore shipments from the country rose slightly during June this year.
Exports of iron ore from Brazil in June 2015 amounted to 32.02 million tons, up 8.4 percent compared to exports in June 2014. In June last year, Brazil exported 29.54 million tons of iron ore. At the same time, compared with the previous month, Brazil's iron ore exports in June 2015 increased by more than 35 percent. Exports in May this year amounted to 23.65 million tons.
The largest export destination of Brazilian iron ore in June this year was China. Exports to China reached 15.40 million tons, accounting for almost 48 percent of total exports outside Brazil. The export price of iron ore to China averaged $ 33.90 per ton.
Cumulative exports of iron ore from Brazil during the first six months of this year amounted to 167.80 million tonnes. Semi-annual exports were up 7.1 percent from the previous year. During these six months, the average export price dropped significantly. The drop in the export price of iron ore averaged 52.3 percent to $ 42.7 per ton.
Exports from the country throughout the year are expected to exceed 335 million tons.
