VMZ started production of new shaped pipes

Vyksa Metallurgical Plant (AO VMZ), which is part of the United Metallurgical Company (AO OMK, Moscow), has mastered the production of rectangular and square shaped pipes with dimensions of 250 × 250 mm, 300 × 200 mm and 300 × 300 mm.

These profile products were manufactured as part of the program for the development of new types of products at the modernized 203-530 mill of the third pipe shop at VMZ from steel grade St3sp5 produced by the Casting and Rolling Complex, which is also part of OMK. Between the end of July and the first half of August, about 1,000 tons of new profiles with different wall thicknesses were produced. As a result of the tests carried out, it was established that the products comply with international and domestic standards. The produced profile will be delivered to customers.

Alexander Barykov, Managing Director of VSW, explained that until now the maximum profile size produced by the third workshop was 200x200 mm. New shaped pipes have a larger cross-section and are especially in demand in the construction industry for the construction of stadiums, shopping centers and other large-scale facilities not only in Russia but also abroad.
