Russia is the largest exporter of nickel to China

Chinese customs authorities released nickel import statistics for July and seven months of this year. According to the data, the total volume of imports of unprocessed nickel amounted to 46362.0 tons during the month. Russia became the largest exporter of unprocessed nickel to the country.

Nickel imports from Russia reached 36408.3 million tons, which is more than 75 percent of the country's total imports during the month. In second place was Canada with the export of 2,484.6 tons. This is followed by Australia with 1,483.0 tonnes. Rough nickel imports during the first seven months of this year amounted to 150,087.1 million tons.

Meanwhile, imports of sinter during July 2015 amounted to 18,783.1 million tons. During the month, imports of ferronickel amounted to 59,114.8 million tons. Indonesia was the largest exporter of ferronickel to the country. Imports from Indonesia reached 13379.9 million tons, accounting for nearly one quarter of the country's total imports during the month. In second place was New Caledonia with 10,643.5 tons. Ferronickel imports in January-July this year amounted to 380263.2 million tons.

Imports of nickel ore and concentrates to China in July 2015 amounted to 4,980 million tonnes. Shipments from the Philippines topped the list. During the month, imports to China from the Philippines amounted to 4914 million tons. Australia came in second with 19,626.1 tonnes. The aggregate volume of imports of nickel ore and concentrate to China during the first seven months of this year amounted to 19,466 million tons.
