MMK Group allocated 5.1 billion rubles for production development

In the first half of 2015, MMK Group companies invested 5.1 billion rubles, including investments by OJSC MMK, which amounted to 4.6 billion rubles. The bulk of these investments went to the modernization of the blast furnace (No. 8), which is estimated at 1.2 billion rubles. The total cost of this project is 2 billion rubles.

MMK Group's main investment area continues to be the implementation of a program to reduce its environmental impact, which is reflected in the reconstruction of environmental facilities that reduce air pollution. The most important activities in this direction include the reconstruction of the sulfur trapping unit (No. 2) and the construction of a closed cycle of coke oven gas, which is concentrated in the shop for the capture and processing of chemicals in the coke production process.

In addition, during the reconstruction of the sulfur trapping unit, three sinter gas purification systems will be built, each of which includes two purification stages, an electrostatic precipitator and a scrubber. Reconstruction of this unit will improve air quality in Magnitogorsk, which will be achieved by reducing polluting emissions.

The production capacity of the sulfur trap No. 2 makes it possible to purify the entire volume of sinter gases at the sinter plant No. 2. The efficiency of air purification from dust reaches more than 99 percent and corresponds to the European level. In the first half of the year, 0.6 billion rubles were spent on the reconstruction of the sulfur trapping unit, and the total cost of the project will be 3.5 billion rubles.

In the first six months of this year, the bulk of construction work was completed to create a closed cycle of coke oven gas in the shop for the capture and processing of chemicals in the coke-chemical production. The new complex will provide a significant reduction in polluting emissions every year. During this period, investments in the construction of a closed cycle of coke oven gas amounted to 0.3 billion rubles, and the entire project is estimated at 0.7 billion rubles.
The total volume of investments of the MMK Group during 2015 is expected to amount to 15.4 billion rubles, while OJSC MMK's investments will reach 14.5 billion rubles.
