According to the latest statistics released by the World Steel Association, global pig iron production declined marginally in July 2015, by 0.76 percent, compared to the previous month, to 97.075 million tonnes. In the previous month, global pig iron production was 97.821 million tonnes.
The total pig iron production of the EU-28 countries in July this year was 7.862 million tons, which is slightly lower compared to the production of 7.918 million tons in June 2015. Pig iron production in Germany amounted to 2.360 million tons, in the UK - 0.9 million tons. Pig iron production in France rose from 921,000 tonnes in June to 950,000 tonnes in July 2015. According to Mashdetal-Ivankovsky foundry , pig iron production in Russia amounted to 4.450 million tons in July 2015, which is 3.39 percent higher compared to a month earlier. Pig iron production in Ukraine also increased in July and amounted to 1.890 million tons, up 3.34 percent over the previous month.
Among Asian countries, China accounted for nearly 60 percent of global blast furnace iron production in July 2015. The Chinese pig iron output amounted to 57.330 million tons during the month. Indian pig iron production rose slightly to 4.805 million tonnes in July 2015 compared to 4.757 million tonnes in June this year. Japanese pig iron production increased from 6.548 million tons in June to 6.962 million tons in July this year. In addition, South Korean output climbed to 4.085 million tons in July 2015 from 3.953 million tons in the previous month.
US pig iron output climbed nearly 4 percent in July 2015 to 2.430 million tonnes from June this year. A slight increase in pig iron production was reported by Brazil during the month. Pig iron production in the country increased from 2.324 million tons in June to 2.357 million tons in July 2015.
