China's total steel product exports are likely to surpass 100 million tonnes this year, Wang Likun, vice chairman of the China Iron and Steel Association, told reporters.
Overseas markets have provided survival for Chinese steelmakers struggling with overproduction and weak domestic demand.
During the first eight months of the year, exports of Chinese products reached 71.87 million tons, up 26.5 percent over the same period in 2014.
However, the surge in exports increases the risk of anti-dumping measures for Chinese private and state-owned manufacturers of low-cost products, for which export duty return loopholes have been closed since the beginning of this year.
Wang Likun said on the sidelines of an industry conference that the government is currently considering further adjustments to export duties on the country's metal products, but did not elaborate.
