Three Kyrgyz citizens were injured as a result of a steam release at the Karabashmed plant near Chelyabinsk

October 2, Chelyabinsk. As a result of the explosive release of steam at the metallurgical plant "Karabashmed" of the Russian Copper Company, 10 people were injured, three of whom were citizens of Kyrgyzstan. According to the representatives of the enterprise, among the victims, Ilrat Respegubov, born in 1994, was sent to the city hospital; Nurkulov Kulanchbek, born in 1980, satisfactory condition - 1-2 degree burns of the face and hands and Dikanov Athlete born in 1995, satisfactory condition - 1-2 degree burns of the face and hands.

Recall that on October 1 at about 09:45 Moscow time in the metallurgical shop of CJSC "Karabashmed" there was a depressurization of the cooling system of the exhaust gases of the smelting furnace, in which, as a result of a steam burn, 10 employees of the enterprise received bodily injuries of varying severity.

According to the press service of the Russian Copper Company, there is no threat to the city's population and plant workers.

Now the workshop in which the incident occurred has been suspended, and it is planned to carry out cleaning and restoration work. The Commission for Emergency Situations began its work. Property damage will also be assessed. The reasons for the depressurization and the timing of the resumption of the workshop will be announced later.

“The main thing for us now is to provide medical assistance to all injured employees and a detailed analysis of the situation with the identification of the reasons for the incident,” commented the vice president for metallurgical production Alexei Bakin.

The exploded Ausmelt furnace in July of this year was overhauled with a complete shutdown of the workshop, therefore, according to Bakin, it is incorrect to talk about equipment wear and tear.

“It is new, installed in the course of the modernization carried out by the company,” the manager emphasized.

A special commission has been created to establish the causes of what happened and what measures are being taken to eliminate the consequences. To coordinate the work of all departments, Oleg Klimov, the vice-governor of the Chelyabinsk region, urgently left for Karabash.
