October 2, Kiev. At the end of 2015, the drop in economic activity in Ukraine will be 11.6 percent. This is stated in the new forecast of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) published on Thursday.
A few weeks ago, the NBU expected the economy to fall by 9.5 percent.
"The deterioration of the forecast compared to the previous one is due to the lack of significant progress in restoring control over the ATO zone, worsening trade conditions for Ukraine, a more significant reduction in exports to Russia, tighter fiscal and monetary policy," the NBU said.
Nevertheless, the office of Gontareva expects that the Ukrainian economy will begin to recover in 2016 and will grow by 2.4 percent compared to this year.
Already in the third quarter, the NBU expects a slowdown in the economic downturn. According to the regulator, real GDP in Ukraine in the last quarter increased by 1 percent, taking into account seasonal factors. Earlier it was reported that the drop in Ukraine's GDP in the second quarter of 2015 slowed to 14.6 percent in annual terms after falling by 17.2 percent in the first quarter.
