October 5. Donetsk. The authorities of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic are planning to arrange supplies of iron ore from the Kursk deposits in Russia as an alternative to blocked supplies from other parts of Ukraine.
Yevgeny Lavrenov, head of the industry development strategy department of the DPR administration, told the Donetsk news agency that potential partners in the Russian Federation cannot be named for commercial reasons.
He noted that it is possible to supply not only the Kursk iron ore concentrate, but also the finished pellet or agglomerate obtained in the subsequent stage of processing.
“Nevertheless, on our territory there is both a sinter plant and a lumping plant,” Lavrenov emphasized.
To date, supplies of iron ore pellets for metallurgical plants in the DPR are carried out through the Skotovataya-Yasinovataya railway line, which connects the republic with the territory controlled by Kiev. Due to the congestion of this route, there are interruptions in the supply of raw materials.
Recall that on the territory controlled by the DPR there are five metallurgical plants, including the Enakievsky and Makeyevsky plants of Metinvest, as well as Donetsk: metallurgical, electrometallurgical and steel-rolling groups Donetskstal and other companies.
Another metallurgical enterprise, the Alchevsk Metallurgical Plant of the ISD Group, is located on the territory of the controlled LPR.
Metallurgical plants in the DPR will receive ore from the Kursk deposit
