Dmitry Medvedev's government agreed with the proposal of the Federal Security Service (FSB) of the Russian Federation to classify the owners of real estate, aircraft and yachts. This was reported in RBC with reference to two sources present at the meeting of the special government commission on October 5.
If the parliament of the Russian Federation approves this innovation, then only the officials themselves and "competent state bodies" will have information about the wealth of Russian officials. Any journalistic investigations into illegal enrichment and corruption among Russian oligarchs, deputies and officials will become impossible.
In addition, disputes with the rich over land acquisition or illegal construction will become much more difficult. The plaintiff simply will not be able to obtain information about the owner of the property infringing on his rights.
The Ministry of Economic Development agreed on the project and sent proposals that can be taken into account in preparation for the second reading in the State Duma, a representative of the department told RBC.
