One of the largest metallurgical companies in India increased steel production in the first half of 2015-16 fiscal year (April-September) by 6 percent compared to the same period last year (APPC) to 6.65 million tons.
At the same time, in the second quarter (July - September), steel production at JSW Steel decreased slightly due to the downtime of one of the blast furnaces at the Vijayanagar plant. This blast furnace was shut down, according to the company, until December 2016.
Steel production at JSW Steel will again be lower this quarter than at APPD due to a recent halt while investigations into a blast furnace gas leak at the company's Salem plant.
Recall that as a result of blast-furnace gas poisoning at the JSW Steel metallurgical plant, employees of the company's repair department were hospitalized. All were saved, but the enterprise was stopped for two weeks.
After a report presented by a multidisciplinary commission formed under the auspices of the pollution control committee, production was resumed.
“The company recognizes the highest priority for the safety and health of workers, people and society, and takes all precautions to ensure safety at all workplaces at the plant,” said the press service of JSW Steel.
JSW Steel is ranked sixth among the 36 largest companies in the world according to World Steel Dynamics.
