The largest Ukrainian producer of commercial pig iron may finally stop

For about a month at the Donetsk Metallurgical Plant (DMZ) of the Donetskstal group of Viktor Nusenkis, persistent rumors have been circulating about a complete stop. Employees of the enterprise reported this to the site 062.ua.

According to these same workers, the reason may be the expensive logistics to provide the plant with raw materials and its characteristics that do not meet the technological requirements of the blast furnace production of the DMZ.

Today the enterprise does not produce anything, and employees, especially those of retirement age, are offered to quit their jobs for remuneration in the form of two official salaries. Others were asked to write a vacation application at their own expense. Those who continue to work receive two-thirds of their wages.

“The next stage, judging by the logic of things and the specifics of the processes taking place at the plant, is the dismissal of most of the employees and the shutdown of production. On the sidelines, this issue is considered practically a settled matter, ”the message says.

According to the industry association "Metallurgprom" Donetsk Metallurgical Plant is still "in service" and produces products.

As reported, with the end of the active phase of hostilities, the situation at the DMZ has stabilized, primarily due to the establishment of supplies of iron ore, which is now purchased in Russia from Severstal. DMZ signed a contract with Aleksey Mordashov's Karelsky Pellet, which delivers iron ore from Kostomuksha-Tovarnaya station to Mushketovo station, near the Donetsk plant.

Metallurgical plant Donetskstal is a full-cycle metallurgical complex. The production capacity of DMZ allows the annual production of 1.45 million tons of pig iron, 1.5 million tons of steel and about a million tons of finished rolled products.
