The dominant role of oligarchs in Ukraine must be abolished if the country wants to receive German investment. This was stated by German Federal Chancellor Angela Merkel in her weekly video message, dpa agency reports.
“People need to be provided with transparency, corruption must be fought,” the Federal Chancellor emphasized.
Merkel praised Ukraine for its "courage" in the fight against the Russian Federation and noted that now it is necessary to deal with the economy.
The Chancellor's statement was made before the visit of the Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk, who will arrive in Berlin on October 23 to participate in the German-Ukrainian economic conference.
