World Steel Association Worldsteel announced that the Charter for Sustainable Development, developed by it, was signed by the heads of 75 steel companies of the world.
The charter includes seven main principles for the sustainability of the steel industry, including: an effective financial framework, environmental protection, employee safety and health, social responsibility in the cities of presence, ethical standards, interaction with all stakeholders, information disclosure and company transparency.
“Our collective belief is that sustainable development must meet the needs of today without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. Each of us must take responsibility and act to achieve the goals we have set for the coming years, ”said Worldsteel CEO Edwin Basson.
World Steel Association Worldsteel is one of the largest and fastest growing industrial associations in the world. Worldsteel members represent about 85 percent of global steel production, including 170 steel producers from 9 of the 10 largest steel companies, national and regional metallurgy associations, and research institutes.
