The closure of the metallurgical plant of the Ukrainian KVV group in Liepaja is a matter of several weeks

Закрытие металлургического завода украинской группы КВВ в Лиепайе дело нескольких недель
October 22, Liepaja. The Latvian enterprise of Ukrainian scrap metal workers "KVV Liepajas metallurgs" is on the verge of closure and this issue may be resolved in the next two weeks. This is stated in the video of the First Baltic Channel.

“Until now, it is almost impossible to get any comments, both from the top officials of the country and from the representatives of the plant. Even Prime Minister Laimdota Strauyuma found it difficult to answer the questions of our correspondent, ”the correspondents said.

The journalists managed to ask the Prime Minister of Latvia two questions regarding the further fate of KVV Liepajas Metallurgs, but they failed to get an intelligible answer. Ms. Strauyuma only said that the government is considering the possibility of helping to supply the metallurgical plant with resources, energy and raw materials.

The plant reported that a rolling shop will start working there tomorrow. "KVV Liepajas Metallurgs" is awaiting a cargo of steel billets detained at the Russian-Lithuanian border for rolling into rebar.

According to the First Baltic Channel, about 6,000 tons of billets will arrive at the plant, which will ensure the operation of the rolling mill for 10 days, after which it will be shut down again.

To continue the work of the plant, the owners of KVV Liepajas Metallurgs need to find at least 4 million euros, the report says.

As reported earlier, the Ukrainian scrap collecting company KVV Group, Valeriy Krishtal, received the right to purchase the bankrupt metallurgical plant Liepajas Metallurgs for 107 million euros. Before bankruptcy, it was one of the largest industrial enterprises in the Baltic States and also the largest exporter in Latvia.
