PJSC "Zaporizhstal" was awarded an award for environmental initiatives

PJSC "Zaporizhstal" by the results of the XIV All-Ukrainian competition "Environmental quality and safety" became the winner in the category "Environmental Initiative". The awarding ceremony was held within the framework of the IV International Forum GREEN MIND in Kiev on October 27, 2015.

All-Ukrainian competition "Environmental quality and safety" is held annually by the All-Ukrainian public organization "Living Planet" with the support of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Ukraine. The main criteria for selecting the winners of the competition are: achievements in the implementation of environmental management and production safety systems or integrated systems; complex solution of environmental problems in production; participation in local projects and programs aimed at practical improvement of the state of the environment. Out of 150 submitted applications, based on the results of the regional round (selection is supported by the State Environmental Inspection of Ukraine), only 35 enterprises and companies made it to the final of the competition, of which 9 enterprises and organizations became winners and laureates of the competition.

PJSC "Zaporizhstal" as a socially responsible enterprise continues to systematically deal with environmental and social issues, despite the difficult economic and political situation in the country. In 2012-2014, about UAH 2.7 billion was invested in the environmental modernization of the plant. The main projects of modernization of the plant are: reconstruction of sinter machine No. 1 with highly efficient gas cleaning, construction of gas cleaning systems on sinter machines No. 2-6, large-scale modernization of blast furnace No. 4 with the installation of an aspiration system for the casting yard and under-bunker overpass, construction and commissioning of a new salt acid etching with an installation for the regeneration of etching solutions (NTA-4). All projects are included and implemented in accordance with the Tripartite Agreement signed between PJSC Zaporizhstal, the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Ukraine and the Zaporizhzhya Regional Council. PJSC Zaporizhstal operates an integrated management system in accordance with international standards ISO 9001, ISO 50001, OHSAS 18001, ISO 14001.
