According to the State Fiscal Service of Ukraine, the physical volumes of export of scrap metal increased in ten months of 2015, increased compared to the same period last year by 41.1 percent - up to 1 million 124 thousand 988 tons. In monetary terms, the export of scrap metal in the reporting period increased by 6.4 percent to the APPG - up to 269 million 353 thousand US dollars.
Against the background of statements about a catastrophic shortage of scrap metal at metallurgical plants, Ukrainian companies reduced the import of scrap metal in January-October 2015 in physical terms by 92.2 percent compared to the APPG - to 2,154 tons. In monetary terms, the import of scrap to Ukraine decreased by 83.8 percent - to 2 million 262 thousand tons.
The data of the customs service testifies to the reluctance of Ukrainian companies to buy scrap at market prices, and speaks of a great desire, by introducing additional administrative restrictions, to force scrap companies to subsidize the country's metallurgical industry at the expense of their profits.
Scrap metal is exported from Ukraine mainly to Turkey (79.10 percent of supplies in monetary terms) and Moldova (19.36 percent).
Ukraine in January-October increased the export of scrap metal by 41 percent
