Ukrkoks asked Arseniy Yatsenyuk to limit the import of coke to Ukraine

According to the general director of Ukrkoks, Anatoly Staravoyt, on October 5, the association of coke and chemical enterprises headed by him sent a letter to the Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk, which contains requirements to limit the import of coke in connection with the "unfavorable situation for domestic coke plants."

“For 10 months, we imported much more than 1 million tons of coke - mostly imported by ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih, MMK im. Ilyich and Zaporizhstal, ”Staravoit said.

At the same time, he noted that we are not talking about a ban on imports of coke, but a certain restriction, since significant imports of similar products are detrimental to domestic producers.

In October, coke production at Ukrainian coke plants increased by 6.5 percent and amounted to 1.137 million tons, while in the previous month - 1.063 million tons. In January-October 2015, Ukrainian producers reduced the production of metallurgical coke with 6% moisture content by 20.9 percent compared to the same period in 2014 - to 9.561 million tons.
