According to the head of the civil aviation department of the Ministry of Transport, the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) Pavel Turevsky, one of the aprons of the international Donetsk airport named after Sergei Prokofiev is in a state acceptable for air traffic, from it "only one hail sticks out", and so the platform is practically whole. Turevsky said this in an interview with the Donetsk News Agency (DAN).
According to the official, the airport after restoration for the first time will be able to receive about 10 aircraft daily: 5-6 passenger flights and the same amount of cargo flights.
The question of resuming the operation of the airport in Donetsk remains open, since in recent days the situation in the region has deteriorated sharply, and hostilities have not stopped yet. In the area of Donetsk airport, the use of anti-aircraft guns, mortars and anti-tank grenade launchers is noted.
