Metallurgprom predicts a 15 percent reduction in steel production in Ukraine

The branch association of enterprises "Metallurgprom" expects that by the end of 2015 the production of the main types of products will be:

• pig iron - 22 million tons (89 percent of production in 2014);
• steel - 23 million tons (85 percent of production in 2014);
• rolled products - 21 million tons (88 percent of the production volume in 2014).

Projected production of the main types of products for December 2015:

• pig iron - about 2.0 million tons;
• steel - 2.1 million tons;
• rolled products - 1.8 million tons.

According to Metallurgprom, as of early November, 23 out of 30 operating blast furnaces in Ukraine (77 percent of the total), 8 open-hearth furnaces out of 9 (89 percent) and 16 out of 21 converters were in operation. (76 percent).

Currently, the Donetsk Electrometallurgical Plant (DEMZ) and the Donetsk Metal Rolling Plant (DMPZ) are still not operating in Ukraine.
