South Korean metallurgical company Posco has secured a ban on trading its securities in Japan. Posco shares will be delisted from the Tokyo Stock Exchange on December 14, 2015, the company said on Friday.
Earlier it was reported that the largest metallurgical company in South Korea appealed to the administration of the exchange, with a request to cancel trading in its securities.
Two weeks ago, the first meeting in many years between Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and South Korean President Park Geun-hye took place.
Analysts had hoped that relations between the countries would improve, but Posco's demarche suggests otherwise.
The historical controversy between the two states stems from the fact that a number of Japanese political leaders refuse to admit that during World War II, the Japanese military forced Korean girls to work in brothels and in fact made them sex slaves. The Japanese called such women "pleasure girls."
