The management of the Khartsyzsk pipe plant did not refute the information about the sale of the enterprise

As told in DAN, today about 10 thousand people gathered at the central entrance of KhTZ with demands to leave the plant to Metinvest. According to the audience, the new owner wants to buy the enterprise solely for cutting its equipment into scrap metal.

The protesters unfolded banners “Down with the oligarchs!”, “No to the oligarchs”, chanted “We will not let the plant be closed”. Everyone had the opportunity to make a speech. Many people actively used it. The main requirement is not to close or destroy the plant, to return people to work, to stop mass layoffs, and to return livelihoods to residents of the city.

This is not the first meeting at KhTZ. In mid-October, about 100 people came to a demonstration at the plant to protest the attempts to change the owner of the enterprise. The audience was not satisfied with the prospect of the plant being acquired by Ukrainian businessman Sergei Kurchenko.

Metinvest did not announce its intention to sell the Khartsyzsk pipe plant, however, according to General Director Yuri Ryzhenkov, the company is considering the possibility of selling some non-core assets.

“But I would not want to make this information public yet,” the CEO said in October this year.

PJSC Khartsyzsk Pipe Plant, a member of the Metinvest Group, is the largest CIS manufacturer of longitudinal electric-welded pipes of large diameter from 508 to 1422 mm with external anticorrosive and internal anticorrosive or smooth coating for main gas and oil pipelines. To date, the enterprise has been idle (since June this year) due to the lack of raw materials and a sales market.
