Two employees of the security department of the Dzerzhinsky Dnieper Metallurgical Plant (DMKD) prevented a man-made disaster, according to gorod.dp.ua.
According to Anatoly Bogdanov, head of the plant's security department, his service managed to detain the intruders who traded in scrap metal. He told how an unknown man intended to cut one of the supports of the main gas pipeline supplying fuel to the plant.
As a result of an ambush organized by security guards, the steel hunter was arrested red-handed and handed over to law enforcement agencies.
“Unfortunately, the police operative group did not arrive at the scene from 9 am to 1 pm, only after repeated appeals the law enforcement officers reported that their car had allegedly broken down and asked to bring the attacker to the police station. According to the statement of the employees of PJSC "DMKD", criminal proceedings have been opened, an investigation is underway, "Bogdanov said.
“If this support fell, there could be an explosion of natural gas with the ensuing consequences. I think that we saved the city from a catastrophe, and the plant - from interrupting the supply of natural gas, ”he said.
Vigilant guards will be awarded prizes. Since the beginning of 2015, employees of the security department of PJSC "DMKD" have detained five plunderers of metal outside the territory of the plant.
