Blackout of Zaporizhstal lasted for several hours: the light is turned on after the repayment of part of the debt

JSC Zaporozhyeoblenergo fully resumed electricity supplies to the Zaporizhstal Metallurgical Plant of Metinvest Group immediately after it received 70 out of 140 million hryvnia of electricity debt from the company. This was reported by the press service of the metallurgical plant, UNIAN reports.

Earlier it was reported that the metallurgical plant was disconnected from electricity due to the debt of the plant for consumed electricity in the amount of UAH 140 million, which arose due to the state's debt to PJSC Zaporizhstal for refunding value added tax in the amount of more than UAH 822 million.

“To the detriment of the implementation of the investment program for the environmental modernization of the sinter plant, we have withdrawn UAH 70 million from the budget of this project to partially repay the debt to Zaporozhyeoblenergo,” said Rostislav Shurma, head of Zaporizhstal.

Zaporizhstal provided the energy company with guarantees to repay the remaining debt until December 20.

In addition to Zaporizhstal, Zaporizhzhya Titanium-Magnesium Combine and Zaporizhzhya Semiconductor Plant have been disconnected from electricity.

The total debt of Zaporizhzhya industrial enterprises to OJSC Zaporozhyeoblenergo exceeded UAH 125 million. 60.2 percent of the company's shares are owned by the state, the rest of the shareholders are not advertised.

By the end of this year, the government of Arseniy Yatsenyuk plans to put OJSC Zaporozhyeoblenergo up for sale in order to attract a private investor to one of the largest energy supply companies in the country.
