Demchishin named the cost of South African coal for Ukraine

A fresh shipment of South African coal that arrived in Ukraine over the weekend cost the country's budget $ 57 per tonne to be delivered to the port. The Minister of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine Volodymyr Demchishin announced this to journalists in Kiev on Monday.

“The first ship arrived the night before yesterday, unloading began, the quality was confirmed… the price is quite attractive - $ 57 per ton in the port,” he said.

V. Demchishin added that the existing contract for the purchase of coal from South Africa allows increasing the volume of purchases to any level. This level is limited only by the availability of funds and the capacity of the port infrastructure.

Earlier it was reported that a ship from the Republic of South Africa arrived at the port of Odessa for 168 thousand tons of anthracite on board for the state enterprise "Centrenergo".

The arrival of the second batch of 85 thousand tons of anthracite coal from South Africa is expected at the end of January 2016.

Anthracite supplies to Ukraine are carried out under a bilateral agreement with the Swiss company MERCURIA ENERGY TRADING SA.
