According to a study conducted by the state enterprise Derzhzovnishinform and the Association for Energy Saving and Energy Efficiency in September - November 2015, metallurgy became the leader among the priority industries, which is explained by the need to develop the potential of the country, which is among the top 10 global steel producers.
The second place belongs to mechanical engineering - due to the potential of mechanical engineering enterprises, the third is light industry.
The rating of strategic resources for the Ukrainian industry was headed by gas, coal and scrap metal.
As experts noted, the export of scrap metal from Ukraine is steadily growing - over 11 months of this year, almost 1.175 million tons of scrap were exported from the country, while for the whole last year - 1 million 30 tons.
“At the same time, the import of scrap is decreasing. If in 2013 232, 7 thousand tons were imported, then in 10 months. 2015 - only about 2 thousand tons, "- said Vadim Odarenko, expert of the Metallurgy Markets Analysis Department at Derzhzovnishinform Subsidiary Enterprise.
"The expected level of exports by the end of the year may amount to 1.220 million tons of scrap metal," he said.
According to the Metallurgprom Association, the volume of the deficit in 2015 is estimated at 668 thousand tons.
