The Swiss iron ore company Ferrexpo, whose majority shareholder is a businessman and People's Deputy of Ukraine Konstantin Zhevago, denied reports of mass layoffs at the controlled Poltava and Eristovsky GOKs.
As the Interfax-Ukraine agency was informed in the company, the information on the reduction of 40 percent of the number of employees at these enterprises is unreliable.
"The message is not true and the company does not provide further comment," Ferrexpo said in an official response to the agency.
Earlier it was reported that the Kremenchug blogger and head of the public organization "European Choice" Kirill Zhivotovsky on his Facebook page spread a statement that "in Komsomolsk at the GOK, 40 percent of employees are fired."
Ferrexpo is the largest producer and exporter of iron ore pellets among the countries of the former USSR and owns 97.34 percent of shares in Poltava and 100 percent of Eristovsky GOKs. The main activity of the company is the production and export of high quality iron ore pellets used in steel production.
