From January 1, 2016, a ban is introduced on the import of agricultural products, raw materials and foodstuffs into Russia, the country of origin of which is Ukraine. The adopted decision is aimed at the dissemination of special economic response measures against Ukraine.
“The decision was made in connection with the fact that Ukraine announced that, starting in 2016, it will implement the economic part of the association agreement with the EU. In these conditions, we need to protect our market and our producers and prevent imports under the guise of Ukrainian goods from other countries, ”said Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev.
Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree terminating the Free Trade Zone Agreement with Ukraine from January 1 in connection with exceptional circumstances affecting the interests and economic security of the Russian Federation and requiring urgent measures.
