Russia and India are planning to further advance the "strategic partnership". Relations between the countries must be strengthened at the political and economic levels, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at a meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Moscow.
During the meeting, new agreements and contracts were signed. Russia's eastward orientation continues. India is primarily interested in Russian nuclear technology and industrial equipment. Trade turnover between Russia and India last year amounted to $ 9.5 billion (8.7 billion euros) in monetary terms. Thus, India is an important trading partner for Russia.
Narendra Modi's visit began Wednesday evening with an informal dinner at the Kremlin. Narendra Modi expressed his condolences in connection with the attack on a Russian passenger liner in Egypt and the Russian fighters shot down by Turkey: "This has become a great tragedy, and the people of India are mourning together with Russia."
