In January-September 2017, foreign exchange earnings from export deliveries of goods from the Donetsk region (excluding part of the anti-terrorist operation zone) amounted to US $ 3.1 billion, which is 24.1% more than in January-September of the previous year. Donetsk region provided in January-September 2017 10.0% of foreign exchange earnings from the export of goods in Ukraine as a whole and took third place after the city of Kiev and Dnipropetrovsk region (until 2014, the region was consistently in first place).

In January – September 2017, enterprises of the Donetsk region exported products to 102 countries of the world.

Italy is in first place, where over 9 months goods were exported for $ 686.4 million, which is 36.5% more than in January-September 2016, and amounted to 21.8% of the total volume. Exports of all goods to the European market increased in January-September 2017 compared to the same period of the previous year by 22.0%.

Foreign exchange earnings from the export of goods to the Russian Federation increased by 18.7% in January-September 2017 compared to January-September 2016, amounting to $ 499.2 million, or 15.9% (second place).

Foreign exchange earnings from the export of goods to the United States increased 1.9 times compared to January-September 2016 and amounted to $ 276.5 million, or 8.8% (third place).

Exports of goods to Turkey, amounting to $ 246.2 million in January-September 2017, or 7.8% of the total, decreased compared to the same period in 2016 by 10.7%. All foreign exchange earnings from the export of goods to Asian countries increased by 13.6% (primarily due to an increase in the supply of ferrous metals to Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Singapore and some other countries).

Exports of goods to the African continent in January-September 2017 compared to January-September 2016 increased by 46.9%, amounting to $ 173.2 million, or 5.5% of the total.

In the commodity structure of the region's exports in January-September 2017, 77.1% accounted for ferrous metals. In foreign exchange earnings from deliveries of all goods to the Russian Federation, the share of ferrous metals amounted to 59.0%, to Turkey - 84.5%, Italy - 89.6%, the United States - 98.8%. In general, the enterprises of the region for 9 months exported ferrous metals for 2426.6 million dollars, which is more than in January-September 2016 by 25.1%.
