Metinvest Group has achieved an increase in the size of ships calling at the Italian port of Porto Nagaro. The first ship with metal products - slabs - from Mariupol arrived at the port at the end of November.
Metinvest, together with the Italian company Fratelli Cosulich, has implemented a project to increase the size of vessels allowed to enter the port of Porto Nagaro (Italy). This will allow the Group to reduce the throughput costs for the delivery of metal products to Italy by 4.4 million euros per year, and thereby strengthen its position in the region.
To implement the project, studies of the navigation channel were carried out using a special laboratory and laser measurements. As a result, a permit was obtained to enter the port for vessels with a deadweight of up to 15-16 thousand tons instead of the previous limit of 7 thousand tons.
The project was completed as part of Metinvest's strategy, one of the key objectives of which is to ensure efficient logistics.
In Italy, the Metinvest Group owns Metinvest Trametal with production sites in San Giorgio di Nagaro and Ferriera Valsider in Verona.
