World steel production for 66 countries representing the World Steel Association (Worldsteel) was 136.3 million tonnes in November 2017, up 3.7% from November 2016.
Steel production in China in November 2017 amounted to 66.2 million tons, which is 2.2% more than in November 2016. In November 2017, Japan produced 8.7 million tons of steel, which is 1.0% more than in November 2016.
In the EU, Italian steel production in November 2017 was 2.2 million tonnes, up 3.3% on November 2016. In November 2017, France produced 1.2 million tonnes of steel, which is 8.7% less than in November 2016. Spain produced 1.3 million tonnes in November 2017, an increase of 18.0% in November 2016.
Turkey's output in November 2017 amounted to 3.1 million tons, which is 7.0% more than in November 2016. In November 2017, the United States produced 6.7 million tonnes of steel, an 8.5% increase over November 2016. Steel output in Brazil in November 2017 amounted to 3.0 million tons, which is 15.3% more than in November 2016.
The steel capacity utilization rate in 66 countries was 70.7% in November 2017. This is 1.5 percentage points higher than in November 2016. Compared to October 2017, this is 2.2 percentage points lower.
