The export structure is dominated by semi-finished products, which account for 46.7%, which roughly corresponds to the indicators for the same period in 2017 (47.6%). The share of flat rolled steel was 27.3% (in January 2017, this figure was 31.4%), but the share of long products significantly increased (26%, or 0.36 million tons in January 2018 against 21%, or 0, 26 million tons for the same period in 2017. The latter is associated with a significant increase in the volume of supplies to foreign markets of Ukrainian rebar.
Consumption of rolled metal in January 2018 in the country amounted to 370 thousand tons, of which 96.5 thousand tons, or 26%, accounted for imports. For comparison, in January 2017, the domestic market consumed 628 thousand tons, of which 63.3 thousand tons, or 10% were imported. Thus, with an overall decrease in the capacity of the domestic market by 41%, the volume of imported rolled metal increased by 52%.
The structure of imports also slightly changed, namely, in January 2017, flat products dominated over long products, amounting to 58.6% and 40.9%, respectively, while in January 2018 these figures were 48.6% and 49.3%.
